The Linkam optical DSC system is a novel low cost single cell system which overcomes the problems of baseline drift due to different heat flows into the sample and reference crucible.
The stage was designed with input from Daresbury synchrotron group and is still regularly used with the beam line there. The DSC system now also featured at many other synchrotron sites around the world.
The single cell approach means the furnace is much smaller than conventional systems, therefore the response time is much faster. Because of the compact size of the stage, it is easily mounted in other instruments such as FTIR, Laser Raman and Confocal microscopes.
Heating and cooling between temperatures of -196°C* and 600°C can be carried out at rates of up to 150°C/min.

DSC-Thermatica System Includes:
- DSC600 stage, with a T95-Linksys temperature programmer
- Linksys 32 software.
- To cool samples from ambient down to -196C, add the LNP95 liquid nitrogen cooling system. This highly efficient LN2 pump, using proprietary pumps and tubing, automatically controls pumping rate to ensure minimal LN2 is required.
The Linksys 32 DSC software can also integrate the area under peaks and calculate the on-set temperature. Using the dynamic data exchange link, data can be exported into other software packages. Linksys 32 can be upgraded to digital image capture so that a graph of the enthalpy change displays time lapse image reference points which can be clicked to show the image relevant to the point on the graph.
