About Spectra Services

Spectra Services was founded in 1977 by Michael L. Specht.   What started in his basement has now turned into a thriving business with 15 employees and multiple sub-contractors.  Our current facility is 14,000 square feet and houses new as well as one of the largest inventories of used microscopes as well as parts for non-current microscopes.  We offer a 1 year warranty on all of our used microscopes and parts.  The standard warranty period in the industry is 30 days.  If the used item that you receive is not what you expected, you can return this stock item within two weeks with no restocking charge.  Unfortunately we can not apply this to custom items specifically ordered.  In those cases, we pass on the restocking fee that our vendor’s charge us.

 We are dedicated to the sales and service of new and used microscopy products and laboratory equipment from major manufacturers.  Our corporate headquarters is located in Ontario, New York, which is just east of Rochester.  Rochester, NY is recognized world-wide as the leading geographical center for imaging, optics, and photonics.  Our main office as 15 full-time employees, with an inside sales force selling worldwide; and outside sales specialists serving New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New England, and Florida.

Our Current Business

Spectra Services is an Authorized Zeiss Microscope dealer in New York and Florida. We handle a large selection of new and used Microscopes, Microscopy Accessories, Microscope Cameras, Laboratory Equipment and consumables, representing over 100 manufactures. Our 14,000 square foot building houses one of the largest inventories in the world of used microscopes and parts for non-current models.

 We believe that we have an obligation to you, our customer, to provide the best solution. This is the reason we are not tied to just one vendor with any of the products we carry. We handle many complimentary products such as motorized stages, digital cameras, fiber optics, measurement equipment, image analysis software, and just about anything you use in your lab. Whether you need a single microscope, centrifuge, complete imaging system, spectrometer, water bath, or a custom-designed imaging solution, our experienced imaging and lab equipment specialists will explain possible solutions and work with you to help you determine the products that best meets your requirements.
