Imaris MeasurementPro

Imaris® MeasurementPro adds geometric and intensity measurement capabilities to the volume rendering features of Imaris and the surface rendering and object slicing functionality of ImarisSurpass.

Measuring 3D Distances
Imaris MeasurementPro allows the user to attach points anywhere within an object created by Imaris or ImarisSurpass and quickly measure the distance between them. Points may be created in three ways:

  • Free points - positioned anywhere in the image volume. Points can be displayed within any Imaris or ImarisSurpass object.
  • OrthoSlice Points - attached to OrthoSlice planes. Once attached, they can be re-positioned but remain attached. When the OrthoSlices are moved, the points move proportionately.
  • IsoSurface Points - attached to IsoSurfaces. Once attached, these points can only be moved along the IsoSurface. They can be transferred from one object to another.

Obtain precise measurements of intensity value for groups of selected voxels.

Manual Object Segmentation
For images with good contrast and low noise, intensity thresholding is the standard method of segmentation. In less ideal situations, however, it can be extremely difficult to obtain well segmented objects.

Imaris MeasurementPro offers a powerful manual segmentation tool that allows users to:

  • Build 3D objects based on 2D contours
  • Handle complex 3D objects that fork and merge by enabling one object to be associated with several contours in one plane
  • Construct a smooth IsoSurface that can be used to obtain measurements

Manual Object Segmentation — Key Features

  • Draw contours with a choice of section planes
  • Build sophisticated objects such as lung tissue that fork or merge on section planes
  • Zoom or pan as needed; pause or resume contour drawing at any time
  • Trace contours while the system automatically inserts vertices at user-defined intervals - either lapsed time or distance
  • Combine manually-built with automatically-generated objects such as IsoSurfaces or any other ImarisSurpass object
  • Generate smooth, accurate objects, which offer maximum image quality and high volume accuracy, from 2D contours
